What kid do you know felt the need to make a decision of either continue being a Broadway performer or pursuing Opera as their career? Erich Scheutt is the only one we know. If you hear him sing you will understand the "why" he wants to sing Opera. He is a natural and called “a silver toned bell” by professionals all over the world. Many call him a prodigy and have no idea how this talented young man sings like he does. Erich doesn’t see himself as anything but a kid who loves to sing opera. Yes, he is so damn good that he could sing anything, and lord knows the “Instant winner” tv shows have approached him, but, this grounded 13 year old has a mission; train properly, treat his voice like a well tuned instrument and preferable sing OPERA! Erich's hard work and talent paid off when he was tapped to play Friedrich on the Broadway National Tour of The Sound of Music. His run ended when, like most boys that age, literally grew out of the part. Once off tour, Erich really began to focus on his love of opera. He won the Junior Division NY Lyric Opera Competition, performed on The Harry Connick Jr Show and sang Tosca and Macbeth in New York. HIs next big performance will be at Carnegy Hall. Erich was given the honor of being the first, and the youngest, American artist to be invited to Italy to train in the art of Belcanto. The experience immersed this young man in the heart and the tradition of Opera. He was honored to sing with the Belcanto Italiano Foundation in the home of Beniamino Gigli who is a famous tenor and favorite of Pavarotti.
